Andreas Söderberg
MSc, BBA, CEO and Board Member

Andreas holds the degrees M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Lund University and UC Berkeley. Andreas has two years experience as a construction superintendent in Sweden and downtown San Francisco. When studying under the supervision of the world’s leading researchers in the area of Lean Construction, Andreas developed the idea of robotized installation of drywall, which is the founding idea behind Build-r.

Rasmus Pettersson
MSc, CTO, Co-founder​

Rasmus has a great interest in mobile robotic systems and statistical algorithms. At Build-r he likes to combine cutting edge sensor technology with new computational methods to make robots see and move in ways impossible just a few years ago. He has previous experience working with Markov based models and range measurement equipment from leading suppliers within the automotive industry. Rasmus holds an M.Sc. in Engineering Physics from Uppsala University focused on Computational Science.

Shehab Mohammed
MSc, Automation and Control Engineer ​

Shehab holds an M.Sc. in Robotics and Control from Umeå University. His main interest is robot manipulators control, in particular complex problems including exploiting redundancy in robot arms. He has experience in working with robots in both virtual reality simulations and robot assembly. Shehab’s main responsibility is developing algorithms for controlling the manipulator in Build-r’s product with smooth motions.

Saeid Esmaeilzadeh
PhD, Chairman

Saeid is one of the two founders of the Serendipity Group, a technology investment and venture saga. At the time Sweden’s youngest associate professor, Saeid had a stroke of Serendipity. His “failed” experiment led to the discovery of the world’s hardest glass material, and subsequently the founding of Diamorph, the first company in the Serendipity Group.

Per Eriksson
PhD, Board Member

Per Eriksson is professor in signal processing at Lund University, he also was the University’s Vice Chancellor between 2001 and 2006. Founding additional technical universities and having been Director General of the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems (VINNOVA) has made Per one of the most well connected people in Sweden’s technical academic space and the scene of large industrial corporations.


The idea of robotized drywall installation was originally formulated in a car filled of student consultants from a class in Lean Construction and SCM at UC Berkeley. ”Maybe it doesn’t matter much how much time we spend doing time studies of the drywall installation process when all drywall will be installed by robots in ten years”. No one in the car believed Andreas was close to the truth at the time. Nor did he know that he had just formulated a business idea and that he and Rasmus would be starting the company making it a reality four years later.

That was in the spring of 2013, and Build-r now has five years to prove the vision.

Build-r is based in Stockholm, Sweden.
